Alisa C - Material Alchemy

Here's my "shadow box" (unfortunately unfinished - one's not painted), made of wood, cardboard, glue and tape. I was supposed to use this as my auto-portrait as well but feel like I can develop the idea into something more complex..

And this is another example I found on internet..

Material Alchemy- Christine C

My material alchemy experience was a lot of experimentation with adding and subtracting. I started out by creating a woman's body made of paper, held together by clear tape, and ended with a face carved in low relief and covered by beads. In between these I made a table out of wire and pink foam. I was very interested in the combination of contrasting materials.

Pretty simple--it's a dreamcatcher made out of wire, twine, rope, leaves, and a few beads.

It was too hard. She sat in the middle size chair. It was too soft. She sat in the baby chair. It was just right -- but it broke when she sat on it."

She puts so much effort into sitting in all of these chairs. Putting effort into relaxing? It just doesn't seem right.

What if she could always sit in it?

What if she could actually always sit in it?

Now she can.
